Mary had a bit of a shock this last week. She went to the doctor for some foot pain and had a physical as well. Enough popped up to encourage us to make the changes we had tried earlier, but now realize it is something that cannot be put off any longer. To that end, we are restarting the diet and exercise and will do better about our posting. Do you have any suggestions for low impact exercises? Let us know, please. I have a Gazelle that is helpful to Mary, since she still has the foot pain. Pictures will be coming up soon, I just have to persuade a certain someone, lol.

  1. Hello, this is Mary. I wanted to include my starting weight as of Wednesday, 11-14-2012 (the day I went to the doctor). They informed me that my weight was now 285, which is "obese" for my height of 5'9". I weighed myself this morning and it was 276.5. I'm sure much of that was water, but I'll keep a much closer eye on it to make sure I continue to lose some of this weight. During my appointment, my blood pressure was taken twice.

The results the first time were:
    Systolic,sitting: 146mm Hg
    Diastolic: 90

    The second time it was:
    Systolicrepeat: 138mm Hg
    Diastolic: 90

Needless to say, the doctor is concerned and so am I. She's ordered some labs which I can't afford at the moment, so I'll be saving up for them. In the mean time, I'm drastically changing my diet and exercise routine despite my foot pain (Plantar Fasciitis).

I want to keep a detailed log of what I eat, or a food diary, which will include what I ate and drank, at what time of the day, and with whom.

I started Thursday after the appointment, but I can't remember back that far. I'll write Sat and Sun meals below.

    My Food Diary
    Day: Saturday, November 17th 2012

Breakfast: Carnation meal shake, 1/2 cup coffee w/ Splenda packet, grapefruit, 1 bottle of water, Shaklee daily multi-vitamin pack. I ate this with my son Gary while Martin packed our lunches for our Special Assembly Day in Romeoville, IL.

Lunch: Carnation meal shake, 1/2 cup baby carrot sticks, 1/2 cup celery sticks, 1 bottle water w/ Shaklee's Cinch Pomegranate energizing tea powder, 2 bites of apple pie. I ate with Gary while Martin was at a quick meeting with the brothers. He packed our lunches (snacks for them included) and the apple pie was driving me crazy. I ate two bites before coming to my senses and giving it away to another family that was sitting nearby. Whew... close call. I almost ate it all! :-(

Dinner: Iceberg lettuce, 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, 1/8 cup dates, avocado, squeeze of lemon juice, 1 bottle of water

Notes (Feelings, hunger, etc.): I am not hungry, but I'm wanting something soft and hot to eat. I'm getting irritated with just crunchy cold food, and I'm getting REALLY irritated watching others eat what I want but shouldn't. My wonderful husband so kindly made a salad for the whole family to eat so we all ate the same thing. He also made sure to get an avocado so I'd have something soft to eat. Yummy! Thank you honey!!!

    Here's what I've eaten today:

    My Food Diary
    Day: Sunday, November 18th 2012

Breakfast: Carnation meal shake, 1/2 cup coffee w/ Splenda packet, orange, Shaklee daily multi-vitamin pack. I ate with Martin and Gary before heading out in service. We had a great morning and since there was no meeting (due to the SPAD yesterday). There was a packed house in the field service meeting with standing room only. Yay!

Lunch: 1/2 cup carrot sticks, 1/2 cup celery, 1 bottle water. I ate with Martin and Gary. They had bacon and bean soup with thick slices of soft bread with butter. Ugh... I was going crazy!

Dinner: 1 cup raw broccoli, 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, 1/2 cup blackberries, 1/2 cup celery, 1/2 cup baby carrot sticks. I ate with Martin and Gary after taking Gary to the Urgent Care with his sprained wrist.

Notes (Feelings, hunger, etc.): Again, I'm not hungry. I am irritated at almost everyone and everything. I don't want to see or smell or hear about other kinds of food. And of course, Burger King's chicken sandwiches are on sale... BOGO. :-( Martin's been trying to be supportive and reminded me how happy I was when I got on the scale this morning and saw I'd lost some weight. So, maybe I can take his lead and keep that happy thought in front of me.

Well, that's about it... I'll check in again soon. And hopefully we'll get around to taking those pics or taking measurements before I waste away to nothing. LOL/JK. Really, I'm in NO danger of starvation!!! :-P
